July 2008archive
It's a story of 30 years old Japanese woman spending seven nights in Thai.
Story of finding a new self.
Ms. Kyoko Hasegawa said at the prerelease ceremony that her role was just her real self.
Actually she performed as much as we cannot tell if she's really acting or just showing herself.
We finally made it to the prerelease show for media at CINEMA RISE in Shibuya.
This new film gathered a lot of attention: the hall was full despite a short notice.
Please wait till the general release at the end of October.
Oh, the theater is CINEMA RISE.
The thing I really got surprised is that my son watched the film very earnestly till the end and told the story to a nursery school teacher on Monday...
Even four-year old son can understand it.
Well, children see things from their atmosphere though.
Anyway, please don't miss it.
There was a writer of children's literature named Kimura Shoshu in Tomika town, Gifu.
Around in Meiji period, he found out that in Tokyo there was a room from which everyone could borrow books.
He hoped to have such a place in his hometown and started contributing books he collected, one after another.
And so the library was established.
Among the people who campaign for introducing Shoshu's achievement and the importance of books, there is Mr. Kato Tsubusa, ceramic artist.
I visited Tomika town at the invitation of Tsubusa-san.
My son really enjoyed playing baseball with Tsubusa-san's children.
After coming back to Nara, is it just my imagination but in his practice at the back of our house the number of his homerun is increasing??

Michuki: Well, why can cars run over roads?
Mother: ...
Father: That's a promise between cars and roads.
I see...promise.
Promises are the things we hold by each other.
There's no chance for us adults driving cars to think about a road.
But, it's very impressive that children cast their eyes to so many directions.
Japan Society gave me an invitation. My first visit to NY.
The town was full of Japanese: is here Japan?
This was a two-night and four-day trip and I hate to have jet-lag, so I asked Mr. Soda, NY- based film director, to take me out for nightlife.
Thank you Soda-kun for your hospitality, taking me around till 4 A.M. every night!
And the morning view of the East River from the hotel was so beautiful...
Late at night, the Ground Zero was twinkling.
I talked with Soda-kun and Ms. Nagasawa of Japan Society about the world from the Japanese viewpoint...
I got an impression that Japanese in NY are making every effort for their life.
