August 2008archive

What a surprise! I just walked by a batting cage I knew in childhood, and it's still running a business.
And, we found a lot of baseball kids practicing in there!
It made me somewhat nostalgic, giving me a warm feeling.
I was wondering how Michuki was going to play..., and we chose a 90km cage.
He totally got obsessed with it!

Our daddy completely has a blind enthusiasm for him, and so took him right away to a sports shop and bought him a suitable bat with which he doesn't totter.
And they disappeared in the field of the Heijo Palace site...

Since the Olympic Games finished, Michuki's dream has been aimed at joining the Hanshin Tigers!

Big watermelon... but the truth is it's a small one our grandad and granny bought us.

Michuki can't help doing things till the end; trying to cut this round watermelon with his cat hand!
Yes. When we use a kitchen knife, you should make the other hand a "cat hand" to avoid cutting your fingers.

Anyway, how cute his cat hand on the watermelon...

Feeling comfortable with my grandma's soft arms,
Michuki gave it a tender bite.

I totally understand why he did it...
Because his mommy used to rub the same part of her arm in childhood.
We're definitely mother and son.
That's one page of a summer vacation.

I went to Kasumi in Hyogo.
Though the first time in the ocean,
really surprising to see my son Michuki diving into it without the slightest hesitation.
Seems he admires the Gold-medal swimmer Kitajima.

Watching the 2008 Olympic Games,
all the boys dream of becoming just like those athletes.
I guess, the ability to dedicate all one's strength into one thing has a potential to change the world.

The fireworks at night were great! Turban shells were great!
Taking a midday nap was great!

Getting back to the office and telling the staff about my auto-camping by the sea,
One of them answered me back that that is a fake-camping...

Seems real-camping should be wilder and much closer to nature.
And so the Boss got in a pet a bit...

I had a talk event with Mr. Lily Franky at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa.

But, during the session, I got a fever...
It lasted for three days, and the photo shows the first day.
Michuki was saying he was eager to see "Oden-kun," the animation character created by Lily Franky. But Michuki stared at him in disbelief (Who is this old guy?!).

Just outside of the meeting room, Hibino-san was working on a piece of work.
And there was also BOSE-san of the Hip Hop group Schadaraparr. So we took a photo.

On that day, Kanazawa had a fireworks show!
I was suffering from a fever of 38 degrees C.
It was like fireworks in my head...

I was a little absentminded at a hotel lobby with Michuki. Then:

Michuki: "Mom, where is the home for the elevator?"
Mom: "..."

This is an event at a hotel in Kanazawa, just on the way back from Kumamoto where I was shooting for my new documentary project for ten days.

Mom (in her mind): "Michuki is just missing his home."
Mom: "Well, that's difficult to find out. Let's ask your dad."
Dad: "There is no home for elevators."
Mom: "! (Oh, dear. What a stupid answer!)"
Michuki: "..."

Going up and down without a rest... I'm afraid if Michuki just imagined himself as an elevator...
He is young but so admirable. And so his mom held him tight.
